Rewarding kids with things they get to do instead of things they get to have. When they do something good, they pick from the jar and get things like to stay up a little later or play outside a little longer etc. Cute idea!

D.I.Y. Rewards Jar: Reward children with things to do [instead of things to have.] Write a reward on each ping-pong ball, such as “Stay up 30 minutes later.” When a child does something well, listens to directions, etc., reward them by letting them pick a ball from the jar.

LOVE THIS ~~ Positive reinforcement ~~ Put a cotton ball, marble, pom-pom, etc. in every time you catch your child being good. Do something special when it's full. What a good way to keep things positive.

best thing I ever taught my kids..

I have a daughter now, and one of my greatest fears is getting her through those tumultuous, insecure, awkward middle and high school years with her sense of confidence intact. I would love to protect her from every mean girl, every unkind word, and every sting of rejection possible. However, I recognize not only the impossibility of that, but also the lack of wisdom in doing so.
