This tree full of plastic bags is one ginormous art installation
Cameroonian artist Pascale Marthine Tayou created his latest installation at Art Basel Unlimited 2015 by building a giant tree that produced plastic bags. The tree is not only supposed to stand as a representation of the harmful effects of pollution, but also ‘‘an investigation towards the artistic qualities of plastic as a medium, and its incorporation with natural materials’.
This amazing piece of artwork erected by South African artist Marco Cianfanelli, stands on the spot where Nelson Mandela was arrested 50 years ago. The monument is constructed out of 50 separate steel bars to represent 50 years since the capture.
Christian Faur’s crayon art looks more like a rasturbated photograph than a portrait made of colored crayons. After scanning a photo, Faur breaks the picture down into color blocks. Then he closely aligns thousands of colored crayons to recreate the image. Truly amazing!
