This went on endlessly, often implausibly, moving crablike toward a non-existent plot. But around the forty-thousandth hour (of the brilliantly read audiobook), I think something like a literary version of the Stockholm Syndrome possessed me. So all I can say is that I don't even care that the ending was a letdown. I lived with those imperfect people for so long that they're mine now.
The Storyteller....think I enjoyed this better than any other Picoult novel..likely because the historical/Holocaust content.. .May 2013

Thought provoking. Worth reading, (i found the intertwined campire story to be a distraction.) The Storyteller: Jodi Picoult
The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult October Book club. Got half way through it and looked up the plot on Wikipedia. I was a little confused about the plot, but basically very disappointed. This is my second attempt at Jodi Picoult. That's it for me. I suppose if you like her you'll like this, her writing style is terrific, but the plot was not.

The first words of Jeffrey Eugenides exuberant and capacious novel Middlesex take us right to the heart of its unique narrator: "I was born twice: first, as a baby girl, on a remarkably smogless Detroit day in January of 1960; and then again, as a teenage boy, in an emergency room near Petoskey, Michigan, in August of 1974."

The Art of Racing in the Rain - Garth Stein Winter - 2011 Enzo is different from other dogs, a philosopher with a nearly human soul (and an obsession with opposable thumbs), he has educated himself by watching television, and by listening closely to his master, Denny Swifty an up and coming race car driver.

The Orange Door: Book Review: Ape House: A Novel by Sara Gruen
Ape House, our next book club book :)
Of the two Sara Gruen books I have read, I loved both. Ape House is dramatic novel about the fragility of animals in the entertainment industry and the people who attempt to learn more about these intelligent creatures. I found this book truly captivating, and I feel it conveys the same genteel curiosity for apes that is so commonly associated with Jane Goodall.
books worth reading
Ape House by Sara Gruen, who also wrote Water for Elephants, is a fantastic read with an intricate plot. Animal lovers will especially love it!
Wench: A Novel
Worth Reading, Dolen Perkins Valdez, Resorts, Books Club, Books Worth, Wench, Book Clubs, Novels, Historical Fiction
I head about this novel on NPR. I've been meaning to pick it up. Can't remember the exact plot, but I'm using the summary on Amazon as a reference. Wench: "An ambitious and startling debut novel that follows the lives of four women at a resort popular among slaveholders who bring their enslaved mistresses wench \'wench\ n. from Middle English "wenchel," 1 a: a girl, maid, young woman; a female child."
In an effort to eradicate the myth of the “seductive/sexually-empowered slave mistress” (most recently perpetuated by Touré on Twitter, apparently), new novelist Dolen Perkins-Valdez has penned a work of historical fiction set in a real location: Tawawa House, a summer resort that catered to white slaveholders and their enslaved “lovers,” in the free state of Ohio. Wench chronicles the lives of four slave women: Mawu, Sweet, Reenie, and Lizzie (the central protagonist)
Wench by Dolen Perkins-Valdez. I absolutely loved this book! Was a great book to discuss at the book club and everyone had all positive things to say!
Very worth reading!

Under the Dome: A Novel
Worth Reading, Books Covers, Small Town, Current Reading, Books Worth, Covers Design, Under The Domes, Stephen King Books, Stephen Kings
An amazing book by Stephen King that takes the classic battle of good versus evil and forces it all to happen within the small town of Chester's Mill while under a mysterious, impenetrable dome. An amazing, worthwhile read.
This dynamic book cover design creates a connection between the image and the typography. Th visual metaphor of this book cover is the transparent dome that symbolises the main object the story talks about. The visual metaphor is further implied by the positioning and placement of the typography, as it follows the spherical object creating a sense of distance in the design.
currently reading this it is incredible.
