Student Whereabouts - I love this! Of course you could do it with the students' names too.

I love this magnet board for student whereabouts. Students are responsible for moving their number when they leave the room. The teacher is then able to know where each student is at all time.

Maybe this will finally stop those dreaded NO NAMES!! Can't tell you how many papers were eventually thrown out because no one claimed them!

My sign would read, "Wait! Did you remember to write your name on your paper? Highlight it with a yellow highlighter or write it in using a highlighter that is NOT yellow!", and there would not be a sign on my highlighter container.

Hall Pass - Print on card stock and put into ID badge holders on coil key chains (both from Walmart). Blank pass at end can be written on with a whiteboard marker and then erased (for students who have to go somewhere else in the building). These are waterproof (seal the top opening with packing tape or buy self-seal ID badge holders) and kids wear them high up on their arms so they don't get wet/dirty in the bathroom.

Use "secret" hand signals to have students SHOW you what they need. Each finger means something different, so the teacher can differentiate what kids need when there are 7 hands raised! Great classroom management technique for nonverbal communication.
