The Best Story - one of the first books read each year in Writer's Workshop.  It's great for teaching where writer's get their ideas.  In the end, the main character learns that the best story comes from your heart.  After reading it, give each student a paper heart and they fill it with words/pictures of the things/people they love.

What Do You Do with an Idea? A wonderful, wonderful book! This post by Andrea Knight from Creating Readers and Writers is filled with great ideas for using this book in the classroom. It would also be the perfect gift for encouraging those in your life to embrace and nurture their ideas, dreams and inspiration!
