They symbolize attachment & love for Hawaii shared by people throughout the world. Typical Hawaiian quilting is only in whit thread as it was the only available one for a long time. Kapa was dyed with vegetable dyes but not threads & cottons.This quilting is time consuming as it has many stitches very close together.
