    What is the farthest someone has fallen (free fall) without dying?: Vesna Vulović. She is a (now 64 year old) Serbian woman who used to be a flight attendant. In 1972, at 22 years old, she worked on a flight in Czech Republic when a bomb explosion caused the plane to break apart. Vesna was the only survivor. She fell freely, without a parachute, from a height over 10,000 meters (33,000 feet). She received fractured skull and vertebrae, and broken legs. . She fully recovered.

    Between 1976 and 1977, a killer stalked Oakland County, Michigan, killing four children, Mark Stebbins, 12, Jill Robinson, 12, Kristine Mihelich, 10, and Timothy King, 11. Each child's body was laid out neatly where they were meant to be found. In 1978, the killing's stopped. Timothy King’s mother sent a letter to the press begging her son’s captor to let him go so he could enjoy his favorite meal, KFC. When the body was found, an autopsy showed that the killer had fed him fried chicken.

    Apr 22nd, 1978 - Will Geer, actor (Grandpa Walton-Waltons), died at 75. As Will Geer was dying on April 22, 1978, of respiratory failure, his family sang Guthrie's "This Land Is Your Land" and recited poems by Robert Frost at his deathbed.
