Appalachian Mountains: The term Appalachian refers to several different regions associated with the mountain range. The term is often used more restrictively to refer to regions in the central and southern Appalachian Mountains, usually including areas in the states of Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, and North Carolina, as well as sometimes extending as far south as northern Georgia and western South Carolina, as far north as Pennsylvania and southern Ohio. wikipedia

Appalachian Mountains are the chief mountain system of eastern North America, and the oldest mountains in the United States. They stretch southwestward for about 1,500 miles from Quebec in Canada to central Alabama. The mountains form the eastern continental divide between the rivers that flow into the Atlantic Ocean and those that drain into the Gulf of Mexico.

Appalachian. The Blue Ridge Mountains and Parkway are a sight to behold. There is feel here that you get no place else. You can step back into the yesteryear of not-so-long-ago. You can remember how we got started here. You can still see it in people's faces, taste it in their food, know it in the atmosphere all around you.

Old Appalachian Mountain farmhouse ~ I know this sounds farfetched, but I'm absolutely certain that I have hiked past this very modest, but beautiful home. The area surrounding it is gorgeous and very peacefully serene, remote, quiet.
