Days of Blood & Starlight (Daughter of Smoke and Bone) by Laini Taylor: Trying to read some lighter stuff, since the last two I read were hard reads. This is the second in the series. It made me nostalgic, this is the type of book I would have really been into in high school, complete with girls with blue hair, magic, drawing and making monsters. Not what I'd call high brow, but hey :) Scroll down if you want to read the first one, which is better.

Love Philippa Gregory for a good escapist read. This series follows The War of the Roses. If you like her, read "The White Queen" first and then this one. The third in the series is "The Lady of the Rivers".
