This FREE product is 2 pages long. It is a Word Study-Spelling Homework Menu that your students can use for any spelling words. I use Words Their Way in my first grade classroom. I attach each child's word sort to the menu each week, and they can choose 5 activities to complete throughout the week.

while you were out note for absent students- laminate this inside of a folder telling the student how much they were missed- they can erase the assignments as they turn them in.

ACTIVITY: I Cans - Alternative to exit slips. Give each student an "I Can Statement" form each Monday to document what they learn during the week. At the beginning of a lesson, have students write their "I Can" statement for the lesson in the space provided. This gives them the opportunity to hear, write, and read what they will be learning, and also provides an opportunity for students to assume some responsibility for their learning.

"Homework Incentive" - When the entire class completes a homework assignment on time, hang up one flag. With the letters in "homework" and a starting and ending decorative flag, there are 10 flags in all. When the banner is complete, give the class extra recess, a homework pass, or whatever incentive works for your classroom.
