    Healthier version of bananabread 2 cups whole wheat flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup sugar free applesauce 3/4 cup honey 2 eggs, beaten 3 mashed overripe bananas Directions Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.

    Healthy Banana Bread with honey and applesauce instead of sugar & oil. 350F, grease a 9x5" loaf pan. Combine 2c whole wheat flour, 1t baking soda, 1/4t salt. mix 1/2c sugar free applesauce and 3/4c honey. Stir in 2 beaten eggs and 3 overripe mashed bananas, chopped walnuts until well blended. Stir banana mixture into flour mixture just to moisten. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan. Bake for 60 to 65 minutes, until a tecome comes out clean. Let bread cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack.

    Made this and it is very good, however, even though I used 3 very large and very ripe bananas, all I could taste was the honey. I like that the honey is a natural sugar, but would reducing the amount mess up the recipe? When I eat banana bread I expect to taste banana. Any suggestions?

    Just made this. But made muffins instead. I also doubled the recipe, and actually used tofu instead of eggs, because I didn't have enough eggs. Added in all sorts of healthy bits too like chia seeds, sunflower seeds, used whole wheat flour, added wheat bran, wheat germ, flaxseed powder too. They turned out great. Yeah they were a little more dense put really good. I also didn't want them that sweet so I used unsweetened apple sauce and somewhere between 1/2 and 3/4 cup of honey.
