Included in this post is a reading genres poster. This poster is designed to help students identify different genres. Additionally, the poster compares genres and encourages students to explore new genres.

Use this table as notes on different genres. After discussing the characteristics of each genre, have students brainstorm actual books or stories to serve as an example for each genre.
