Those Who Save Us by Jenna Blum. For fifty years, Anna Schlemmer has refused to talk about her life in Germany during World War II. Her daughter, Trudy, was only three when she and her mother were liberated by an American soldier and went to live with him in Minnesota. Trudy's sole evidence of the past is an old photograph: a family portrait showing Anna, Trudy, and a Nazi officer, the Obersturmfuhrer of Buchenwald.

Without question a must read - The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay. Also worth reading the sequel - Tandia.
The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay: In 1939, as Hitler casts his enormous shadow across the world, the seeds of apartheid take root in South Africa. There, a boy called Peekay is born. His childhood is marked by humiliation and abandonment, yet he vows to survive and conceives heroic dreams, which are nothing compared to what life actually has in store for him. He embarks on a journey through a land of superstition and prejudice where he learns the power of words, and the power of one.

This makes me so happy to see nerdfighters on pinterest ::Book Review: The Fault In Our Stars by John Green - a tragic funny/serious book about two kids with cancer. VERY Good. It was Time's book of the year and on many other best books of 2012 lists.
"The Fault in Our Stars" by John Green. Book Club book #14 overall 4.5 of 5 stars
Peculiar indeed! I loved the idea for this book - a collection of strange photos!
Young Adult Books, Worth Reading, Good Reading, Books Worth, Vintage Photography, Miss Peregrine Home, Good Books, Ransom Riggs, Peculiar Children
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. Actually a Young Adult book, and not anything like most books I read but I really enjoyed it. Kind of reminded me of John Irving's A Prayer for Owen Meany due to the quirky characters and the far out story line.
MISS PEREGRINE'S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN - Ransom Riggs: A mysterious island. An abandoned orphanage. A strange collection of very curious photographs. It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, an unforgettable novel that mixes fiction and photography in a thrilling reading experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive. A spine-tingling fantasy illustrated with haunting vintage photography, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will delight adults, teens, and anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows.
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. Quick read. Interesting idea. Worth reading over the weekend.
Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children- Ransom Riggs.
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children - full of super creepy pictures that only add to the book's suspense. Definitely not what I thought it was going to be but very good read!
Great YA Books Worth Reading!
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children: Ransom Riggs Good book for teens, but not nearly as creepy or freaking as I was hoping.
Beth Hoffman, Ceec Honeycutt, Worth Reading, Save Ceece, Steel Magnolias, Books Club, Books Worth, Novels, Ceece Honeycutt
Debut novelist Beth Hoffman has presented her readers with a picture of strong Southern women characters. Some more eccentric than others. A cross between Steel Magnolias, Designing Women, and the Help, it is the story of CeeCee Honeycutt who tragically loses her mother and is rescued by her Great Aunt Tootie. This novel, so beautifully written will stay with me for a long time. So full of content it will absolutely be on everyone's Book Club Reading List.

The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan In 1949 four Chinese women begin meeting in San Francisco to play mah jong, invest in stock, eat and share stories. Nearly 40 years later, one member has died, and her daughter comes to the club to take her place. The other members tell her a secret about her mother's past. A wonderful novel about the relationships between mothers and daughters.
