Summer Solstice festival is a celebration of the day of maximum sunlight.  Solstice is the word that means “sun stands still” as this is the day when the position of the sun neither continues to move north or south but does, indeed, stand still. In other words, the sun rises and sets at the same exact position in relation to the surface of the earth.
