So nerdy, but this is one of my favorite books of all time! "Ender's Game" By Orson Scott Card. Every time I finish it I have this overwhelming desire to be a military mastermind and save the world and be insanely intelligent.
One of my favorite books. Children geniuses play computer simulated games, which in fact turn out to be something else.

Shadows in Flight because it is a book that I read out of obligation- I finished this book in literally a matter of hours after receiving it from Amazon
In the beginning there was Ender’s Game. Then came the sequels and the Shadow series which actually started as a parallel story line to Ender’s Shadow. And now? Now Orson Scott Card is trying to connect all the dots together.

Hidden Empire (2009 The second book in the Empire series) A novel by Orson Scott Card
Hidden Empire - Orson Scott Card
Empire by Orson Scott Card feels eerily like it could happen tomorrow, like it says on the cover "A disturbing look at a possible future". It has an equally intriguing sequel- Hidden Empire. "The American Empire has grown too fast, and the fault lines at home are stressed to the breaking point. The war of words between Right and Left has collapsed into a shooting war, though most people just want to be left alone. The battle rages between the high-technology weapons on one side and militia foot soldiers on the other, devastating the cities and overrunning the countryside. But the vast majority, who only want the killing to stop and the nation to return to more peaceful days, have technology, weapons, and strategic geniuses of their own." (Hatrack) Empire is about the United States entering another Civil War. With the recent government shutdown, the scenarios in this book seem a very real possibility. I listened to this book on cd and the reader did a wonderful job. I would get home from work and sit in the car for a couple extra minutes to hear more of the story. This is a huge surprise in the middle of the book. I had to listen to it three times before I could actually believe what happened. It's a fascinating book that rings true in our times. Check it out and have a good book day!

Crossed. Book two for the matched series. Ally Condie
Matched by Ally Condie Audio-ebook Read by Kate Simses, Jack Riccobono, and Matt Burns Book #1, Matched, is a very good, very disturbing book. The society in the book, make all the choices for everyone. What to eat, how to exercise, what their career will be, who they will be marry. 100 books, 100 paintings, 100 poems were chosen to keep. Everything else was destroyed. Archivists are made to destroy artifacts and books. Botanists are made to destroy plants that don't serve a purpose. Everyone wears brown or black except on special days like on their matching. It puts me very much in mind of libraries now where librarians are forced by city or school officials to get rid of books. Books are no longer needed "everything is on line." Disturbing. The two books that follow, Crossed and Reached, continue the story of Cassia, Ky and Xander as they loose each other, find each other and fight for freedom. An awesome trilogy. Book Description from Amazon: Matched: Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows he is her ideal mate . . . until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black. The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can't stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path that no one else has dared to follow. Crossed: Cassia and Ky grapple with secrets, wilderness and the tumultuous meanings of love in the second installment of this addictive, layered dystopic trilogy… Although two-boys-one-girl triangles run rife in this genre, Condie’s is complicated and particularly human, involving real emotional scars… Both rich and easy to digest, this will leave fans hungry for the third book. Reached: Cassia’s journey began with an error, a momentary glitch in the otherwise perfect façade of the Society. After crossing canyons to break free, she waits, silk and paper smuggled against her skin, ready for the final chapter. The wait is over. One young woman has raged against those who threaten to keep away what matters most—family, love, choice. Her quiet revolution is about to explode into full-scale rebellion. With exquisite prose, the emotionally gripping conclusion to the international–bestselling Matched trilogy returns Cassia, Ky, and Xander to the Society to save the one thing they have been denied for so long, the power to choose. As of today, Will Grayson, Will Grayson is my favorite, but I'm loving Paper Towns too. We have both at the store.

Paper Towns book review, John Green. BOOKS I THINK YOU SHOULD READ blog, April 2014.
My favorite book is paper towns by John Green!
I have a pinterest board and list on my iphone full of books I want to read. There is not enough time for me to get to them all. Currently my ideal vacation would be reading in a hammock with a yummy drink! Even though that won't be happening any time soon, I thought I would share my current summer reading list for all of your vacation and pool side reads! 1. The One and Only - Emily Giffin I have read a few of Giffin's other books and love her writing style. The One & Only is a novel about seeking your passion in life after you question where you came from. I've heard it's a tearjerker and will inspire you to step out of your box. 2. The Vacationers - Emma Straub Family vacations are a mix between an amazing time and a little stress. Most people have a funny story (or 10) from one of their family trips. The Vacationers covers the Post family over a two week island vacation. The family is tested when secrets come to light and old rivalries resurface. Can the bonds of family keep the Posts together? 3. I suck at Relationships So You Don't Have To - Bethenny Frankel I could definitely be considered a Bethenny Frankel superfan. I have read all of her books and watch every show she has starred in. She has gone thru great times and equally hard times and her sense of humor seems to get her thru it. Her other books mix funny anecdotes and no nonsense advice and I Suck at Relationships won't be any different. She gives 10 pieces of advice that she has learned thru her failed relationships. 4. The Heir - Kiera Cass This is the 4th book in the Selection series. I haven't read the other 3 but I've heard this one can stand alone. The Heir is a new version of a princess looking to find her prince, with or without love being involved. Will she have the fairy tale love story like her parents or will she marry for duty? 5. Paper Towns - John Green As a die hard Fault in Our Stars fan, I'm excited to read another of John Green's books. The movie version of Paper Towns premieres on July 25, so I plan to have this read before. The main character, Quentin Jacobsen, has always loved Margo from afar. After an adventure together one night, she goes missing and a new adventure begins! 6. The Woman I Wanted to Be - Diane Von Furstenberg When Diane Von Furstenberg married a prince, she knew she wanted to still have her own life and livelihood. This drive pushed her to invent the iconic wrap dress. The Woman I Wanted to Be is a memoir of DVF's life so far. From her early life in Europe to running the DVF empire, her drive and determination have kept her going. She has faced many disappointments and tragedies both in her career and home life. I read this page turner in less than a week. I dare you to read it and not feel inspired!
Paper Towns by John Green 4 out of 5 stars This is my 4th John Green book and it may be my favorite. Yes, even over TFIOS. I mean, who really says that a book about kids with cancer is their favorite? (If that's you, I apologize. ;)) I kind of have a love/hate relationship with Green though. Yes, every single one of his books are the same (TFIOS is slightly different, but still close enough) but they're still good reading. Paper Towns has the nerdy outsider boy in love with the manic pixie dream girl from afar, something happens to bring them together, then they're apart, and then they're back together in the end, but only for a short time usually, and then they're all okay with that. There's the nerdy boy's quirky BFF, usually non-white, who pretends he's a ladies man but totally isn't and he eventually gets with the hottest girl in the school. There are the nearly non-existent parents who allow their children to go on road-trips at the drop of a hat. "I'm a big believer in random capitalization. the rules of capitalization are so unfair to words in the middle." It's the same formula over and over again. So why does it work? I don't really know. I do know that I fiercely want young Margo's t-shirt from the beginning: a pink T-shirt that featured a green dragon breathing a fire of orange glitter. I know that I love the idea of having a revenge night, getting back at all the people who hurt you (especially if you are still in high school when everything is dire and important then.) The idea of just taking off when you can't take it anymore (whatever "it" is.) Margo's little clues for Quentin to find, encouraging him to think about his life and how he's lived it so far. When Margo left after their night of revenge, I got worried about what was going to happen and actually skimmed the ending a bit to see if she lived or not. (Not saying here yes or no!) The ending redeems the similarity to his other books, in my opinion. You feel for these characters and yet you also feel like maybe you've grown too. Does that make sense? Just like Q, everything has been flat and one-dimensional and you've been okay with that, but all of a sudden your eyes open up and you can see how things really are and how they can be different. A paper town for a paper girl.

Princess Academy by Shannon Hale. ONE OF MY FAVORITE BOOKS OF ALL STINKING TIME!!! XDXDXD Also, a sequel was just released August 2012, and it is awesome, go check it out! :D
Princess Academy By Shannon Hale I was at first put off by the name, but this book is part of AMightyGirl's Guide to the Independent Princess for a reason!
Princess Academy by Shannon Hale. The book that introduced me to Hale in fourth grade. This was a really good book. I loved how it ended and how Miri worked through the unexpected dilemmas.
Princess Academy... this is really good book which follows Miri a girl of Mt. Eskel who gets chosen to go with other girls of the Mountain to a princess academy where one will be the princess and marry the prince. I love these strong characters' personalities. I also love the "quarry speech" and how miri and her friends use it. 5 stars all the way!
Miri lives on a mountain where, for generations, her ancestors have quarried stone and lived a simple life. Then word comes that the king's priests have divined her small village the home of the future princess. In a year's time, the prince himself will come and choose his bride from among the girls of the village. The king's ministers set up an academy on the mountain, and every teenage girl must attend and learn how to become a princess
Princess Academy by Shannon Hale One of my favorite books ever! I have read it five times

The Lathe of Heaven by Ursula K. LeGuin was first published in 1971. It was nominated for both the Hugo and the Nebula. / George Orr is a mild and unremarkable man who finds the world a less than pleasant place to live: seven billion people jostle for living space and food. But George dreams dreams which do in fact change reality - and he has no means of controlling this extraordinary power.
Probably my number one science fiction book.
