Amazing Things in the World's photo: The Great Artificial Elephant, This is a robotic miracle! Made from 45 tons of recycled materials, measuring 12 meters high and 8 meters wide. It can carry up to 49 passengers!

Made in France, the elephant is one of the Machines of the Isle of Nantes, an artistic & cultural project created in the warehouses of the former shipyards in Nantes, France. The elephant is 12 meters high, 8 meters wide & can carry 49 passengers at a rate of 1/3 kilometer per mile, along the banks of the Loire River. It was the intention of the artists to conceptualize travel through time “at the crossroads of the imaginary worlds of Jules Verne & the mechanical universe of Leonardo da Vinci.”

The Great Elephant – The world’s largest mechanical animal. It can carry up to 49 passengers at a time for a 45 minute walk. Built in France as part of the Machines of the Isle of Nantes, an art and culture show full of dream and fantasy. 12 meter high x 8 meter wide the mechanical elephant was cobbled together using 45 tons of reclaimed wood and steel. I’m not sure what fuel it uses but smoke comes out of its trunk.
