I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering that I don't use. You know why? Mechanical engineering is BORING. I'm not sure that a lack of confidence is the driving factor in women not going into math and science so much as the perceived rigidity and solitude that that type of job entails. That said, beautiful color and imagery in this chart.

I have two degrees in science and have recently taken the (very difficult) decision to leave science as a career. the reason? the work-life balance is terrible, nothing to do with my confidence. i would just rather do a more flexible job and have time for children, friends and to do all the wonderful things i keep meaning to do from pinterest!

Agree with Maria. Enough of this one sex is smarter than the other drivel.
