Fushimi Inari shrine, Kyoto. I got to run through these orange Tori gates at night, all the way up the mountain. The view from the top of the shrine is stunning- Kyoto's laid out before you like somebody just spilled a bag of diamonds on the world.
Kyoto - Philosopher's Path is a stunning pedestrian path that follows a cherry-tree-lined canal in Kyoto, between Ginkaku-ji and Nanzen-ji. The route is so-named because the influential 20th century Japanese philosopher and Kyoto University professor Nishida Kitaro is thought to have used it for daily meditation.
