Picture hanging tip with clothespin
Picture Frame Hanging Tip This little tip may just change your life! Okay, maybe I'm being a little overdramatic. Maybe... But you WILL love this picture frame hanging tip! Get It Sold with Sabrina Soto. She preparing to hang frames on the wall when she whipped out this homemade tool to mark the perfect placement of the frame on the wall! So I decided to make my version of this tool. Sabrina had a long piece of wood that looked like an extra thick paint stirrer, and to one end she had a screw screwed into it. I decided to make a scaled down version with a nail and a clothespin since most of the photos I hang aren't any larger than an 8x10. I simply hammered a nail into a clothespin. And if you're curious as to why I used a clothespin its because 1) I have a ton of them and 2) Because the one end can double as an extra thick piece of wood so my nail will stay nice and straight when I use it. To use my little contraption, I hung the nail head in the hook on the back of the frame. Then I held the frame up on the wall and decided where I wanted it to go. When I knew where I wanted the frame to go I simply gave the top of the frame a light tap. Which in turn pushed the nail into the wall leaving a marker for where I need put my nail to hold the frame! Did you just have a "why didn't I think of that moment?" I only ask because I SO did when I saw this on tv. :)
Easy Picture hanging technique.

Easy peasy way to determine where to hang picture, mirror, etc., on wall. CAUTION: If you're using a picture hanger with a hook on it instead of just a nail, you will want to MAKE SURE the HOOK is where the nail mark is on the wall, not where you will put the nail. The nail will be a little higher than your mark. (where the 'hook' should be.) Get the idea?
Drive Nail A into a piece of wood/ruler till the end pokes thru the other side. Hammer no further. Take picture frame & let it hang off Nail A, as you hold the "ruler". Support the frame w/hand keeping it on Nail A. Put frame in place on the wall. Gently press on the frame where the picture hook and Nail A are & leave an indentation in the wall from Nail A. Remove frame from Nail A & the "ruler." Find indentation on wall & hammer Nail B in wall & hang picture.
Using wood/ruler. Drive nail into wood until end pokes through other side hammer no further. (Nail A) Hang pic off "A" while holding ruler. Support pic w/ other hand. Keep pic frame on "A" until Step 5. Determine where to hang your pic. With pic frame against the wall gently press pic where the pic hook & "A" are. This leaves sm indentation in wall from "A". Remove pic from "A" & ruler. "A" remains in ruler. Find indentation on wall & hammer new nail "B" into wall & hang pic.
Find a piece of wood (like a ruler). Drive a nail into it until the end pokes through other side, hammer no further. Hang picture frame off the nail, while holding the "ruler". Align the frame (stilling hanging off the nail in the wood) on the wall where you want it. Gently press on the frame where the picture hook & nail are, leaving an indentation in the drywall. Set down the frame and ruler. Find the indentation on the wall, and hammer a new nail into the wall. Hang frame on the new nail.
Article was not very clear, but good way of hanging pictures. Drive a nail part way through a ruler or other wood item. From their hang the item you want to put on the wall off of the nail on the ruler. This will allow you to see where the item will hang, etc. When you found the spot where you want it on the wall, use the nail tip (Same one that is connected to the ruler and where the picture is hanging off of) to mark the spot and then hammer a new nail in the wall. Hang the picture on that nail and it will be right where you wanted it to be!
