Queen Elizabeth II - I think there will always be something comforting about QEII. I'm not a monarchist, just an aussie girl. So maybe its because she has been there on the back of all our coins, maybe because her picture used to hang on the wall at school and at girl guides. She's always just been there... Weird, but true.

BURMESE RUBY TIARA. The Queen received the rubies from the people of Burma as a Coronation gift. She sent the rubies to Garrad’s to create a new tiara in 1973. She selected a design where the rubies were arranged in clusters like the ROSE OF ENGLAND surrounded by diamonds. The Queen wears the crown often with her many ruby necklaces and bracelets. Since the passing of the Queen Mother, she has worn the magnificent ruby necklace, The State Rubies, left to the Crown by Queen Victoria.

Queen Elizabeth. So beautiful. I love this picture in her youth. Ahhh, we were all young once.

Even Queen Elizabeth II cottoned to the mod look in small ways, such as with this psychedelic turban-style hat she wore while on an International tour to Canada to meet Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau in July 1970.

The Queen. I believe that this is the crown she wore in her portrait for the famous stamps that bear her image. Though I may be thinking of Hong Kong's stamps.

Her Majesty, the Queen of England in all of her regal glory--I just admire her strength, grace, and humility.

Queen Elizabeth II. What an insightful picture. Love it.
