Smallest man in the world dancing with his cat. that's what the original pinner said. I would have to say smallest man with pert near the largest cat in the world.
So strange and freakishly engaging :) ....."Black Cat ~ 1956: Henry Behrens, the smallest man, dances with his pet cat in the doorway of their Worthing home."

"Almost all Gypsies in the United States originated from some part of Europe, although there are a few small groups from elsewhere, such as parts of Asia. Some "black Dutch," from Germany, the Netherlands, and Pennsylvania, intermarried with Romnichals and are counted as Anglo-Americans. Besides the Eastern Europeans who make up the large group of Rom, there are in the United States two other large groups of Gypsies: the Baschalde (from Slovakia, Hungary..."
A gypsy wedding party poses for the camera, 1941
"Gypsy people may seem split between their business life, which focuses outwardly on non-Gypsies, and on the other hand, their social life, which focuses inwardly on only Gypsies. Nevertheless, as Silverman noted, some Gypsy Americans may present themselves as Puerto Ricans, Mexicans, Armenians, Greeks, Arabs, and as other local ethnics in order to obtain jobs, housing, and welfare."

$11.06. That amount was reportedly what Rowland Hussey Macy earned on the first day his new dry-goods store opened for business in a small building on the corner of Sixth Avenue and Fourteenth Street in 1858.But after that slow start, the R.H. Macy store began grossing tens of thousands of dollars a year. It became a full-fledged department store in 1877 and eventually occupied many storefronts along West 14th Street (like the one in the photo at left).Fourteenth Street was a more upscale shopping district at the end of the 19th century. But even then, department store moguls could see that the future of retail was farther uptown. So in 1902, Macy’s packed it up and relocated to a colossal new store at Herald Square on 34th Street—its current quarters today.

This is an amazing picture with an intriguing story. You are looking at a pleasant view of a newborn baby, a skilled nurse, and a proud mother. These three people have some amazing things in common. They are all US citizens, none of them have committed a crime, none of them have been charged with a crime, and none of them have stood trial for a crime, yet all three are imprisoned. The child was born a US citizen, imprisoned at his birth. This is not a scene from some distant land, but occurred i
