Holiday Fruit Salad:16 ounces plain yogurt 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1/4 cup brown sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 6 -8 red delicious apples, cored and cut into 1/2 inch cubes 1 cup green grape Directions: 1 Combine yogurt, nutmeg, sugar and vanilla, mixing well. 2 Pour over prepared fruit, tossing to cover the apples and grapes. 3 Chill. 4 Before serving, dust with a little extra nutmeg.
Ah, ambrosia fruit salad, a southern favorite for sure. A mixture of a variety of fruit with some kind of dressing - often sour cream, whipped cream or yogurt - but I prefer simple juice. The fruit you use is relative, as are the amounts, though generally at least one thing is common to all ambrosia recipes and that is coconut.
