Still in Yogodo hall's garden in the heart of Asakusa (i.e. in the Sensoji grounds), a stone bridge built in 1618, evocative of the ones found in the Tokugawa Toshogu shrines; this is the oldest stone bridge in the Tokyo metropolitan area! 3/4 #Asakusa, #Sensoji, #Yokodo, #bridge August 19, 2014 © Grigoris A. Asakusa Zenizuka Jizodo 1/4 Behind and to the left of Sensoji lies a small temple that many visitors miss -which is a shame since it's part of Asakusa's history. It's the Zenizuka Jizo-do #Asakusa, #Senizuka, #Jizodo, #Sensoji © Grigoris A. Miliaresis

If it wasn't for the piles of snow (like here in the Asakusa entrance of Azumbashi Bridge connecting Taito and Sumida wards), no one would have guessed what happened this weekend! Taken on February 10, 2014. © Grigoris A. Miliaresis

West/left of Sensoji, another Asakusa treasure: the Yogodo hall commemorating the 1200th birthday of famous Tendai Buddhism teacher Ennin/Jikaku Daishi (794-864) and housing the Yogoshu Buddhas-followers of Bodhisattva Kannon. Ennin helped Sensoji flourish after visiting in the 9th century and creating a duplicate of the original Kannon statue found by the Hinokuma brothers in the Sumida River. #Asakusa, #Sensoji, #Yokodo, #Ennin, #Jikaku 1/4 August 19, 2014 © Grigoris A. The Nakamise Dori/Street (http://www.asakusa-nakamise.jp/) leading to the Sensoji temple, another Asakusa attraction for the last three centuries and usually buzzing with people (the picture was shot early in the morning so the crowds haven't come in yet) also pays tribute to hagoita -with a couple of huge ones hanging above it.
