You read a lot about these fraternity fundraisers, and it's easy to get a little jaded when you see "$10,000 Raised for X Cause," or "X Fraternity Puts on Car Wash" or anything of that ilk. But Penn State University's THON dance marathon—which has been around for 40 years and now involves over 15,000 students dancing for 48 hours straight—shattered all its fundraising records this year, generating $12,374,034.46 for childhood cancer research.
The Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, affectionately referred to as THON. The largest student-run philanthropy in the world whose mission is to raise funds to conquer childhood cancer. So proud to have been a part of this when I was a student. www.thon.org
