Moss and stone yard....I had a neighbor who did this. She couldn't get any grass to grow so she let the moss take over and just pulled the grass up, it was so pretty and she loved to walk in her yard barefoot because it was so comfortable. Where is this taking me? Would be cute for a yard if you lived with a wood line behind the house, then just make the stepping stones in the ground.. Take some packets of the wild flower varieties and sprinkle all around, and lead it towards the wood line! That would be so pretty!
Entodon seductrix is the top of the list. Entodon seductrix is a pleurocarp that grows on soil, wood, and stone. Other sun tolerant mosses include Climacium americanum, Leucobryum glaucum, Ceratodon purpureus and Bryum argentium. These are listed in order of usefulness for your application.
Beautiful - one way to make anything look more like it grew out of your garden is to cover it with moss. Mix a handful of moss from your yard with a cup of buttermilk in your blender. Put in a spray bottle and spray on whatever. It should grow moss.
