Ernest Miller Hemingway came to Switzerland for the first time in January 1922 and stayed at the “Pension de la Forêt” in Chamby. In his room in this Swiss chalet, he wrote several chapters of “Farewell to Arms”, in which he recounts his toboggan outings at Les Avants and his walks in the snow at the “Bains de l’Alliaz”.

Reminds me of my first trip to NYC, coming into the city and spotting on one of the under passes an older homeless man, just sitting watching the thousands of cars pass through as he stroked a small white kitten in his lap.
