Green Gate - A living gate at the end of the driveway. Rolls open to let you in and rolls closed for privacy. This structure started with a galvanized horse trough filled with soil and planted with arborvitaes. The trough measures 2 feet high and deep and 8 feet long. To move it you need a wooden brace for the bottom and it is attached to an old piano. Using this planter allowed the owners to circumvent a neighborhood rule that says fences and gates can’t be taller than 6 feet.

why shouldn't your garden gate be any different than your front door -- color says 'welcome' I love this color.

This is the white picket fence, arbor, and garden I dreamed would greet visitors to my house as a child. It takes me back to a sweeter time, when you wouldn't think twice to go next door and borrow a cup of sugar!

Great idea to add drama to a gate - I would love to see it with the vine all the way over the arch.
