Hubble 20th Anniversary Photos: NASA Astronomers' Picks

Star cluster Pismis 24 hang over the dusty clouds of NGC 6357 #Stars and #Space images from the #Hubble telescope.

A spire in the Eagle nebula. The tower is 9.5 light-years or about 90 trillion kilometres high, about twice the distance from our Sun to the nearest star.

Serenity Nebula by `Casperium- amazing! Just look at the colors. I love space! This world is really awesome.

The Pelican Nebula lies about 2,000 light-years away in the high flying constellation Cygnus, the Swan. Also known as IC 5070, this cosmic pelican is appropriately found just off the "east coast" of the North America Nebula (NGC 7000), another surprisingly familiar looking emission nebula in Cygnus. The Pelican and North America nebulae are part of the same large and complex star forming region, almost as nearby as the better-known Orion Nebula.

NASA 4) Butterfly Nebula (NGC 6302) Located in the constellation Scorpius, the structure of this nebula is one of the most fragile and complex that has ever been studied. The butterfly shape has lead scientists to name it's structure a "bipolar structure."

The #SwordOfOrion - The Orion constellation is noticeable for three medium-bright stars in a short, straight row. These stars represent Orion’s Belt. If you look closely, you’ll notice a curved line of stars “hanging” from the three Belt stars. These stars represent Orion’s Sword. Look for the Orion Nebula about midway down in the Sword of Orion, otherwise known as M42, a stellar nursery where new stars are being born.

The Sombrero Galaxy - 28 million light years from Earth - was voted best picture taken by the Hubble telescope. The dimensions of the galaxy, officially called M104, are as spectacular as its appearance
