The magnificent Madagascan Sunset Moth (Chrysiridia rhipheus) was first categorized as a butterfly in 1773 by Dru Drury but was later deemed a moth in 1831. It is a day-flying moth and most interestingly, the iridescent parts of the wings which make it so beautiful actually do not contain any pigment; rather, the colors originate from optical interference.
