"Replacing the Victorian predilection for decorating with a miscellany of fancy objects, Gustav Stickley opted for designs in plain, straight lines that were adaptable for Craftsman settings. This oak, iron and glass corner cupboard was executed around 1902–1903 in Stickley's favorite brown color, achieved by applying wax or a thin coat of shellac to give the wood a soft, lustrous glow. Private collection. —All photos courtesy of Dallas Museum of Art."
