Did this with Bic permanent markers and VODKA (from my craft closet, silly) and worked great. Hubby volunteered some "tighty whities" that he hated - made my 5-year-old granddaughter giggle uncontrollably while we "worked" on this project. DIY Sharpie Tie Die. Secure item to be colored onto a plastic cup with rubber band, create design in center of circle. Using dropper drip approximately 10 drops rubbing alcohol onto design and watch as colors bleed.
tie-dye tissue paper. From the comments: "A great permanent dye choice would be dye that one makes by placing the insides of spent markers in alcohol for a day or so. I also just saw a tutorial that uses water instead of alcohol, but don't think that would be as permanent."
