I love the blue ceiling! I think I've read that this was done on outdoor porches on victorian homes in the early 1900s. But I could be making that up? Anyway, we're gonna paint our porch ceiling aqua like this! Would be cool in a sun room too.

Sun porch color scheme-- Painting the porch. Ever wonder why porch ceilings are painted blue? Apparently to repel insects, but there’s more to the story. Sherwin Williams says its a Southern tradition to scare off Haints (ghosts for the rest of us) and even developed a paint color for the practice called Haint Blue.

The porch furniture on this North Carolina breezeway was all found or passed down by family. The curtains give this outdoor space a pop of color and help it feel like a real room; they were made from umbrella fabric that cost $1 per yard! (Photo: Deborah Whitlaw Llewellyn)
