Usually I get roots, but the shoots die off. Not w/ this method - it is very different from others - for one thing, you keep the seeds in the dark for a long time.

avacado plants...we used to do this with my gma when we were growing up, I have been thinking about starting some avacado plants again lately...I think I will :-)

Grow an Avocado Tree from the pit (for a houseplant, it probably won't produce fruit). After drying, the pit is suspended in a glass of water and once there is root growth of about 2″, it can be planted in a pot of soil and tended to as a houseplant. If your climate allows, you can plant this outdoors.
