Aquamarine exists in many shades of blue, from pale versions to the color of the sky, and some stones are tinged with green — it owes its color to the presence of iron. Deeper colored aquamarines have the highest value.
Queen Marie of Romania's Sapphire: the worlds most famous & historic cut sapphires, the gem is by far the largest, weighing 478 cts. There are only two historic sapphires recorded that are larger, both of which are in museums. The 563 ct cabochon star sapphire, the Star of India, was donated to the American Museum of Natural History as part of the J. P. Morgan collection circa 1900.
