Mom didn't swear very much, but sometimes she would refer to the damn ivy that grew up and over the trees of our house. Generally she liked the look of ivy covered buildings and ivy covered beds...but sometimes it got out of control. Mom was not a gardener like I am, or my older brother Eric, or my Grandmother Olsen, who loved flowers.
