Good idea for students posting ideas about a reading assignment. Is really an "inferring" lesson, but can be used for more basic strategies.

Cute idea for teaching inference!

Students write what they know/think directly on the poster or on an entrance slip that can be attached to the poster to put everyone's background knowledge together to support making inferences about the topic

Used the book "No David" to practice making inferences (good guesses) about what was happening. Before reading, looked at each picture, wrote down a guess and added a blurb about the picture clue they used to make it.

This is a great resource for teaching poetry. It includes 25 different types of poetry. This meet standard 2.W.5 Production and Distriubution 5. with guidance and support from adults and peers on a topic and strengthen writing as needed by revising and editing. Although this is a third grade standard it can be adapted to other grade levels.
