Give me 5...teacher says word and student has to high five the correct sight word to enter/exit the room.

Break the Code to Enter poster that I hung on the outside of my classroom (right by the door). When kids walk in the room, they have to "break the code" by hitting each one of the hands as they read the high frequency words.

Pick a few sight words {more or less depending on the group} and write them all over chart paper. Read a word and students have to find it.

Small Group activity - cover chart paper with sight words repeated several times each. Give each student a different colored crayon and have them locate a word-read it - then they can circle it. give each kid a different color marker for management too!
