LOVE THIS IDEA: I picked a stick and they never knew who that person was until the end of the day. If that person behaved in line, listened and followed directions in class with few warnings, they got a surprise out of the treasure box and their name went up on the wall of fame..if the mystery person did not behave their name went back into the box or whatever I had and it was never revealed. FREAKING GENIUS!

draw your attention to POSITIVE behavior! As chaos ensues within the classroom (and by chaos I mean anything from "getting a little chatty" to "full on riots"), I look for someone who is doing the right thing. And then... DING! I whack my little bell and the room comes to a screeching halt. Because: a) They know somebody is about to get awarded a tally and (even if they were the one go-go dancing on a desk they still hold a flicker of) hope that it will be their name c...

Laminate and velcro name tags to desk instead of taping them. Lasts all year and easy to switch out for different groups....

A PAT ON THE BACK- love this idea from Dr. Jean! Trace/cut out of Contact paper. Use as reward. Stays on all day since they can't reach it to place with it. Could punch out a bunch with our die cuts. Pre-write each student's name on one to make sure everyone gets one this semester. Gotta DO THIS!

Thumbs Up! Thumbs Down! Jar Each child drew a slip of paper and then we decided “thumbs up” or “thumbs down”. I’m trying to reinforce good manners, the rules, and using better words, etc.

Put your timers on stretchy bracelets to keep your students from wandering on washroom trips, extra-long library visits or manage computer sharing time! Kiddos love it!

Win-Win - Be a Bucket Filler NOT a Bucket Emptier (as a teacher - check on Thursday to ensure EVERYONE has at least one in there)
