The day the herdsmen in Mongolia asked if we wanted to see how our food was prepared, I was torn. We had been eating sheep in various dishes for over a week and I had never thought twice about the actual animal. Watching the process was a little tough, though it was done respectively and quick. I realized then that I had no concept of the food I ate and how it ended up in my meals. I left this moment with appreciation for both the animal and those preparing our food.
