I nominate my son, Daniel, who is currently deployed in Afghanistan where he works over 12 hours daily as a supply sgt. Daniel loved Cape Cod beaches growing up and his favorite class trip was to Provincetown. My brother John. As children we vacationed on Cape Cod each summer and he loved spending the day on those beautiful beaches. The time on Cape Cod was the highlight of his summer. My son, Carl, who is a high school teacher on Cape Cod, raising 3 young children with his wife Caitlin. Who Needs a Vacation?

My husband has been going to North Truro since he was a child and introduced me, and eventually our children to the magic of Cape Cod. He travels or business, but rarely relaxes or takes time for himself in any of those exotic places. He has a health condition that makes international travel challenging, but he never complains or feels bad for himself. What he looks forward to most is spending time with his family and searching for "critters" and crabbing on the bay beaches of North Truro.

My fondest childhood memories are vacations to the Jersey Shore. Those were the few days every year that my father didn't have to leave for work early in the morning. Instead, he would wake up earlier to surf cast on the beach. Although he rarely caught anything, he passed on a love for the ocean that has me out surfing in Gloucester before work in the morning.
