Ansel Adams was the first photographer to shoot an official Presidential portrait when he was commissioned to photograph Jimmy Carter. He pioneered the revolutionary zone system but sadly, relied on commercial photograpy for his livelihood while pursuing the art of fine photography. His most famous photograph Moonrise, Hernandez, NM, the highest Ansel Adams print sold for $609,600 at Sotheby's in 2006 . His iconic photographs have inspired the conservation of national parks in America.
