Door of Al-Hazm Fort The great door, complete with elephant studs, of Al-Hazm Fort, near Rostaq in the Batinah Region. Al-Hazm Fort is thought to have been completed in 1714 for its patron, Iman Sultan bin Saif Al-Ya'arubi II, who ruled Oman from 1711 to 1718 AD. The inscription on the door informs us that it was made in Surat, an important trading port on the west coast of India at that time. Location: Al-Hazm Photographer: Clive Gracey
