Portrait of a Woman Egon Schiele 1907/8-14 Metropolitan Museum of Art

Seated female nude with raised arms Sitzender weiblicher Akt mit erhobenen Armen Egon Schiele via

Standing Nude, Facing Right Egon Schiele  (Austrian, Tulln 1890–1918 Vienna) Date: 1918 Medium: Charcoal on paper Dimensions: H. 18-1/4, W. 11-3/4 inches (46.4 x 29.6 cm.)

Egon Schiele. I prefer Shiele's architecture paintings/drawings to his portraiture. The houses communicate such character in the use of colour, composition and quality. This piece, the name of which I have forgotten, appears so lonely, spaced bleakly within the frame. I like the minimalism, he's recorded the minimum and yet the house is perfectly understandable.

Obras importantes incluyen "The Seer incluidas" (1911), "El Cardenal y monja" (1912), y "Embrace" (1917).

This wasn't one of the painings I saw at the recent Galerie St. Etienne show, Egon Schiele's Women, but I wish it had been!
