I did this to the roller blinds in our kitchen and they look really nice, but I used heavy housewares fabric so my shaded no longer roll, they are stationary.     I'm really not sure. It was easy enough that if I had roller shades in another room, I would test it out.

    Maybe you could make it into a roman blind. You'll need some lengths of dowling wood, some rings and blind cord and a bit of spare time to cover the dowels in fabric and sew onto your blind. I'm sure there are instructions on the net. Debbie
