brad nailer and primer. The vertical pine trim was easily attached with a nail gun then primed with Zinsser (I always use oil based primer on raw wood.) I used paintable caulk to fill in any gaps between the baseboard, crown, and bookcase edges. Two coats of paint unified the vertical trim, baseboard, and crown.*

She used unfinished wall cupboards on the bottom, then built the shelving from 1 x 12. Might be a solution for cupboards in the new corner of the kitchen.

I love window seats, so I was fascinated to see how Aubrey and Lindsay at Little House Blog turned inexpensive Ikea cabinetry into extra seating in their breakfast room. Now they have a pretty place to sit and concealed shelving–impressive!
