Crates! You can buy them at Joann's for $9 and stain or paint. -- actually really like the looks of these as a book shelf somewhere... Maybe I could just buy a few and mount then to the wall instead of stacking them...

You can never have too many bookshelves! Also if it was shorter and longer, it would be a perfect display for kids books because it is easy to see the cover rather than read the tiny spine.

For the ridiculous number of books in piles around the house...you could even use one for storing library books, etc...hmmm:)
