Word Of Mouth: London Street Food - Cool Hunting

The best dining experience in London. London restaurant, Sketch.

For a drink with a view, try the Madison Bar nr St Paul's. The terrace is on an eyeline with the cathedral dome and there are stunning views out across the skyline to the new Shard and London Eye. If you're looking for a drink after work, arrive before 5.30 as it gets justifiably very busy. Much recommended

OMG Dirty Burger looks amazing

Lucky Chip at the Player bar (aka Slider bar) Player Bar, 8 Broadwick St W1F 8HN This particular Lucky Chip 'residency' at The Player bar in Soho is one of the most successful collaborations we've seen. The Lucky Chip caterers seem to have found their spiritual home amid the Americana, stuffed moose head and den-style decor of this low-lit basement below Agent Provocateur. The menu is a clever homage to fast food joints, yet is far more grown-up than drive-thrus or takeaway joints.

JUBO 68 Rivington Street, Shoreditch, EC2A 3AY Jubo is a Korean canteen specialising in chicken, but with a succinct menu of buns and burgers, too. Many dishes would make good sharers – the steamed buns with braised beef brisket, or the ginger and soy spring onions – but the burgers are enough to fill a person. The chicken burger is actually thick pieces of chicken thigh, stuffed into a bun with piles of kimchi slaw. Cocktails are from the adjoining Bedroom Bar, and they’re good.

FORNATA 15 Kingly Street, Soho, W1B 5PS Fornata’s majestic centrepiece, a giant wood-burning oven that would be intimidating if it didn’t churn out such delights, calls to mind the communal cooking tradition of southern Italy. All the Italian standards are reassuringly present here, but the standout is the ingenious Fornata burger – a patty wrapped in pizza dough, which pairs neatly with the light zucchini fries. Don’t miss the sottobosco either, an ice-cream based cocktail/dessert hybrid.
