Vintage Button Clock - for the sewing room? or a variation for the craft room?

  • Whitney Baenziger

Vintage Button Clock Clock battery and hands; embroidery hoop; fabric; scissors; fabric glue; 12 vintage buttons; pencil; needle; and thread. How to make it: Put the fabric into the embroidery hoop, glue, and trim off excess material. Mark off the cardinal points of the clock onto the fabric. Lay the selected buttons onto the markings, and then sew them into place. Puncture a small hole into the center of the fabric, and secure the clock battery and hands into place.

This is so adorable! I love it! I am a huge fan of buttons and have more than I can handle. I could make 300 of these and still have enough buttons left over to make 1,000 more! :) This is a really great project idea, I don't like to "copy" other people's work, but this sure did spark some ideas for me to get rolling on a button project!

buttons...remember when your mother gave you buttons & string to play with to keep you busy while she ironed or mended? That's what this photo reminds me of.

I'd love to try my own take on this. I like the geometric nature of it and the combination of embroidery and buttons.
