Dick and Jane Readers Childhood memories
Dick and Jane readers... See Spot run. Run, Spot, run! first grade stuff for me...
Had these in Griffin, Ga, at Crescent Elementary School, didn't we, @sjstallworth ??!! But I knew how to read before 1st grade... Did you learn to read with them?
Seven editions of Dick and Jane textbooks were published by Scott, Foresman and Company from 1930 to 1965. Dick and Jane was an elementary schoolbook in reading and health for more than 85 million Americans from the 1930s through the 1960s. The stories featured the happy lives of Mother, Father, Dick, Jane, baby Sally, family pets Spot and Puff, and Sally's teddy bear, Tim. Yes I remember learning to read on these little books
Dick & Jane When I began school, we were not introduced to reading till first grade. Dick and Jane were the books we learned on. There were three levels of Dick and Jane books & these were the characters within.

There isn't a better quality sound of music, other than that of a vinyl record. Many don't believe it, but I know for a FACT, that vinyl is much better quality than a CD or anything else. Records WILL be back!
Remember being able to lift the arm on a "record player" (What stereo?) and play a 45 over and over

The bright red color made me think my cut was even worse than it was. Brings back childhood memories.
I remember this! Long before Neo Sporin! It always burned my cuts and scrapes and Mom had to blow on the "boo boo" as she applied it.
Remember this? Every medicine cabinet used to have one.
In elementary school, Mama did not buy us a school box for supplies. We kept our supplies in cigar boxes! Somehow, I just don't think that practice would work today, for so many reasons!

When I learned to rotary dial my best friend's number as a 6-year-old in 1959, I was happy that most of the seven digits were small numbers. When you had to dial a 7, 8, 9, or 0, the chances you'd flub it up and have to start over were huge. And I had important stuff to tell Mary Beth!

Driving In Movie, Drivein Movie, Remember This, Window, Childhood Memories, Movie Theater, Theatre, Saturday Night, Kid
Use to go to drive-in Saturday nights when I was a kid.
Some of my best childhood memories are with my daddy at the drive in movies!
Remember outdoor movie theaters? They were so much fun when we were kids .... but also remembering the flip side of that coin .... they were darned hot all summer long (pre-A/C in cars, and you had to have the window open anyway, to bring these speakers into the car so you could hear the movie); and then there were the mosquitoes, so you had to burn these little squiggly-looking repellant things on the dashboard -- they didn't work, but doing something vs nothing, made everyone feel better :-)
Drive in movie theaters. Just heaven in summer. when we were kids we loved it when Mom and Dad would take us to the Drive In
Remember This? Speakers at the drive in movies.
This is the speaker you attached to your car window so you could hear the movie at the drive in theatre. Now those really were the good ol' days.

I loved Green Stamps.
Books, Remember, Green Stamps, S H Green, Childhood Memories, Households Items, Greenstamps, Memories Lane, Mom
Green Stamps you earned them from your grocery store....my Mom used to collect them and cash them in for merchandise after she accumulated so many. I remember her having a paper grocery bag full and books in it as well that were already filled up. Back then it was really something
S & H green stamps. We'd collect them, stick them in stamp books and then redeem them for household items. My mom did did this.
Green Stamps.... My mom bought me my first big girl bike with S&H greenstamps!
Green Stamps = Childhood memories
Memory lane: I should be green, I've licked literally THOUSANDS of S&H Green Stamps in my day! It's how I was able to afford holiday presents for others, how I built up my Hope Chest, and it kept me off the streets (ha)! There's a HILARIOUS story in my family about my Mom & these stamps. I almost pee laughing every time I think about it!!!!
S H green stamps. I remember Mother collecting these and then we'd put them in the books.
