The first major project inside Muse is the idea of a painted then stenciled floor. The owner and I discussed a few different flooring options, but creating an interesting finish on the concrete made the most sense with the budget, and I could see the floor as a chance to make a statement. So, I started revisiting some of my favorite painted floors from the blog world and we decided on an oversized, slightly imperfect medallion pattern that I am sure many of you recognize! We both loved the look

Painted wood floor: fill in any large gouges or scrapes, and sand the entire floor lightly. you can use nearly any paint on the floor, but if you're concerned about it rubbing off with traffic, talk to the people in the paint store/department. you can also get clear acrylic sealer to paint over the floor once it's dried and once cured, it'll protect the paint job.

Painted floor. So cool! If I ever have an OLD farmhouse. (Not doing that to new construction, of course!)

Great mud room... check out the built-in shoe storage and hooks for coats and backpacks... jealous!
